Niger issued this miniature gold piece as part of a broader wave of small-format collector gold that flooded the market in the 2010s, produced almost entirely for the European and Asian numismatic trade rather than any domestic circulation. The issuing authority in name was Niger, but the coins were almost certainly contracted through the Monnaie de Paris or a private European mint — a common arrangement for Francophone African states with no viable domestic minting infrastructure.
KM#36 attribution places it firmly within this collector series. Actual distribution to Niger was never the intent.
