Issued as part of France's long-running commemorative silver program, this piece marks the 1,500th anniversary of the baptism of Clovis I — the Frankish king whose conversion to Nicene Christianity in 496 AD aligned the nascent Frankish kingdom with Rome rather than the Arian heresy favored by rival Germanic powers.
