The denomination 100 FRANCS CFA is repeated in raised lettering across all four arms of the cross, and the legend REPUBLIQUE DU BURKINA FASO arcs around the lower left of the central circle. |

Burkina Faso has issued commemorative coinage through the BCEAO framework since the early 2000s, but the bulk of its collectible output is produced under licensing arrangements with European private minting companies — most commonly Münze Österreich or B.H. Mayer — and marketed exclusively to the collector trade. None of these pieces enter circulation. The "Last Supper" issue belongs to a wave of religiously themed struck medals that flooded the commemorative market in the mid-2010s, targeting Christian collector demographics in Europe and North America.
