| Obverse description | The obverse is struck in the form of a cross-shaped flan, with the national coat of arms of Burkina Faso centrally positioned within a raised circular border in the middle of the cross. The coat of arms depicts two rearing horses flanking a central shield bearing a white star, crossed torches behind the shield, an open book below, and olive branches to either side. A ribbon above the shield bears the legend BURKINA FASO, while a lower scroll reads UNITE PROGRES JUSTICE. The denomination 100 FRANCS CFA is repeated in raised lettering across all four arms of the cross, and the legend REPUBLIQUE DU BURKINA FASO arcs around the lower left of the central circle. |

| Reverse description | The reverse, also cross-shaped, features a high-relief rendition of Leonardo da Vinci's iconic composition of the Last Supper, depicting Jesus Christ seated at the center of a long table surrounded by his twelve apostles, rendered in fine sculptural detail across the full width of the flan. An elaborate scrollwork and foliate arabesque fills the background field of the cross arms, lending a decorative Gothic quality to the design. The incuse legend THE LAST SUPPER appears in raised lettering along the upper arm of the cross, and the date 2016 is inscribed in the lower field below the table. |

| Additional information |
Burkina Faso has issued commemorative coinage through the BCEAO framework since the early 2000s, but the bulk of its collectible output is produced under licensing arrangements with European private minting companies — most commonly Münze Österreich or B.H. Mayer — and marketed exclusively to the collector trade. None of these pieces enter circulation. The "Last Supper" issue belongs to a wave of religiously themed struck medals that flooded the commemorative market in the mid-2010s, targeting Christian collector demographics in Europe and North America.
Silver-plated copper at this weight puts it firmly outside bullion territory.
