| Obverse description | At center, the coat of arms of the Republic of the Congo, featuring a shield supported on either side by African elephants, with a lion passant depicted on the shield and a mural crown above. A ribbon below the shield bears the national motto. The circular legend REPUBLIQUE DU CONGO arcs around the upper field, while the denomination 100 FRANCS CFA is inscribed in the lower field. The design is rendered in high relief against a polished ground. |

| Additional information |
The Republic of the Congo — not to be confused with the neighboring Democratic Republic of the Congo — issues commemorative coinage through the Monnaie de Paris under licensing arrangements common to many francophone African states that lack their own minting infrastructure. These small-format gold pieces are produced almost exclusively for the collector market and see no domestic circulation whatsoever.
At 0.5 grams, the striking tolerances are genuinely demanding.
