Aanvullende informatie

The Republic of the Congo issued a run of dinosaur-themed collector coins in the early 1990s, targeting the international novelty market rather than domestic circulation. The timing was deliberate — Jurassic Park released in 1993 sent global dinosaur enthusiasm to a commercial peak, and several small-denomination CFA issuers moved quickly to capture foreign buyer interest.

Spinosaurus itself was poorly understood at the time of striking; the species wouldn't receive its landmark skeletal revision until Dal Sasso's 2005 study.
