| Beschrijving voorzijde | The national coat of arms of Ivory Coast occupies the central field, depicting an elephant head above a shield flanked by two palm trees, with a rising sun at the base of the shield. The circular legend REPUBLIQUE DE COTE D'IVOIRE arcs along the upper periphery, while the denomination 100 FRANCS CFA is inscribed along the lower rim. The design is rendered in high relief against a polished proof field. |

Ivory Coast has issued dozens of these miniature gold pieces under the CFA franc designation, typically featuring European historical figures who have no meaningful connection to the country's history. Bismarck unified the German states through three deliberate wars between 1864 and 1871, and presided over the 1884–85 Berlin Conference — the gathering at which European powers formally partitioned Africa, drawing the borders that created French West Africa and, by extension, the territory that became Côte d'Ivoire itself. The irony of his portrait appearing on an Ivorian coin is considerable.
