Obverse description Three giant eland (Derby eland) busts in high relief face left in a dynamic, overlapping composition, their elongated spiral horns extending prominently toward the upper field. Stylized savanna grasses are rendered in the lower field beneath the animals, conveying a naturalistic African landscape setting. The engraver's signature G.B.L.BAZOR appears along the right inner border. The curved legend REPUBLIQUE CENTRAFRICAINE arcs along the upper periphery in bold Latin capitals, with the Monnaie de Paris mintmark visible at the base of the design.
