Reverse description The large denomination numeral 100 dominates the central field, rendered with decorative beaded and rope-work borders forming an ornate cartouche. The word FRANCS appears below the numeral and the date 1975 is inscribed beneath it. The word ESSAI is inscribed above the numeral in the upper field. The legend BANQUE DES ETATS DE L'AFRIQUE CENTRALE arcs along the upper periphery, flanked by elaborate geometric decorative panels featuring zigzag and rope motifs arranged symmetrically around the coin's border.

Additional information

The Banque des États de l'Afrique Centrale — the common central bank created for the six member states of the CEMAC monetary zone — commissioned essais like this one as struck trials submitted for official approval before authorizing full production runs. The 1975 date places this piece at a moment when franc CFA monetary governance was being restructured following the 1972–73 revision of the cooperation agreements between France and its former Central African territories.

Essais of this type were produced in strictly limited quantities, typically for distribution to monetary authorities, archival institutions, and a small number of approved dealers. Survivors outside those channels are genuinely scarce.
