The BEAC issues commemorative silver under the 100 Francs CFA denomination for member states — Chad, Cameroon, the Central African Republic, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, and the Republic of the Congo — as a revenue-generating vehicle, not sovereign circulation coinage. Che Guevara's connection to Francophone Central Africa is marginal at best; his 1965 Congo campaign, fought alongside Laurent-Kabila's forces in what was then the Democratic Republic of the Congo, ended in failure after roughly seven months and was kept secret during his lifetime.
