The "Cougar" branding here is a marketing denomination used by the Monnaie de Paris for its one-gram gold miniature series, issued under technical agreements with several West African CFA franc states. Ivory Coast holds nominal issuing authority, but these pieces are wholly a French mint commercial product aimed at the bullion gift market rather than any domestic monetary function. The CFA franc itself remains pegged to the euro at 655.957 francs, a rate fixed in 1999 and unchanged since.
