| Obverse description | The obverse is struck in the form of a Cannabis sativa leaf with seven serrated leaflets rendered in high relief, each leaflet displaying finely engraved venation detail across the silver-plated field. At the center of the leaf form, a raised circular medallion bears the national arms of the Republic of Benin — a quartered shield supported by two leopards, surmounted by a star, with a palm tree and sailing vessel in the quarters. The legend REPUBLIQUE DU BENIN arcs along the upper periphery of the central medallion, while the motto FRATERNITE JUSTICE TRAVAIL curves along the lower portion. The denomination 100 FRANCS CFA appears in the exergue of the central medallion. |
