Aanvullende informatie

Niger has issued this piece under the BCEAO framework, with the face value denominated in CFA francs — a currency backed by the French Treasury and pegged to the euro, a monetary arrangement that became politically contentious in the years surrounding this coin's issue. The July 2023 coup that ousted President Bazoum brought renewed calls to abandon the CFA franc entirely, making 2022 BCEAO-issued collectibles from Niger an oddly terminal footnote in that relationship.

At 0.16 g of .999 gold, the actual bullion content is minimal — this is a collector issue, not a bullion vehicle. The 40 mm diameter relative to that mass means the planchet is extraordinarily thin.
