正面描述 Central vignette of a portrait of Paul Cézanne (1839–1906) set against an evocation of his painting 'La Mer à l'Estaque' (1878–1879); above the watermark area, a view of Jas de Bouffan, the artist's family estate, is rendered in fine underprint. Below, a vignette derived from 'The Card Players' appears alongside the denomination numeral '100' and the issuer inscription 'Banque de France'.

备注

The Cézanne 100 Francs was the last major redesign in the Bank of France's pre-euro series, issued as the country was already locked into the Maastricht convergence criteria and preparing to abandon the franc entirely. Roger Pfund, the Geneva-based designer, brought an unusually experimental hand to what would prove a short-lived note — circulation ran barely two years before euro adoption in January 1999 made it redundant.

Pfund's involvement was something of an outlier; most Banque de France commissions of that period stayed with in-house design teams at Chamalières. The note was demonetized on 17 February 2012.
