| 正面描述 | Dynamic scene in the Belle Époque style depicting a costumed figure — rendered in an allegorical, fin-de-siècle manner — pushing off at the start of a bobsleigh run, rendered in high relief against diagonal track lines suggesting speed and motion. In the foreground, a two-man bobsleigh with a helmeted athlete is shown in close-up perspective. The legend RÉPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE arcs along the upper rim, and the engraver's signature J. JIMENEZ appears at lower right in the field. |

Essai strikes from the Monnaie de Paris carry legal-tender status in France but were produced exclusively for collectors, never entering circulation. This piece precedes the full 1991–1992 Olympic commemorative series by at least one year, making it part of the design-approval and trial-strike phase that French law required before authorizing full production runs. The Albertville Games themselves were the last Winter Olympics held before the IOC split the Summer and Winter cycles, a scheduling change that took effect directly afterward.
