| Beschrijving voorzijde | Bare-headed left-facing bust of Prince Albert I of Monaco rendered in high relief in the Art nouveau style of engraver Louis-Oscar Roty, depicting the Prince with a short beard and moustache and closely cropped hair. The portrait is boldly modelled and occupies the majority of the field, with the truncation of the neck visible at the lower centre. The circular legend ALBERT I PRINCE DE MONACO runs along the upper periphery, and the engraver's signature O. Roty appears incuse at the base of the design. The coin is bordered by a fine beaded rim. |

This is a trial piece for a 100 Francs denomination that was never issued for circulation under Albert I — Monaco's monetary ambitions at this scale did not materialize, leaving pattern and essai strikes as the only physical record of the proposal. The Gadoury reference places it firmly within the documented Monaco essai series, but surviving examples are exceptionally rare by any measure.
