Obverse description Central rectangular cartouche bears multi-line Arabic legend naming the ruler Ahmad Muddat Bey of Tunisia, the denomination 100 Francs, and the Hijri year 1354, all rendered in an ornate calligraphic style. Flanking the cartouche are two stylized grain or palm fronds — an olive branch to the left and a wheat ear to the right — rising symmetrically in the field. The entire design is enclosed within a beaded inner border and a rope-pattern outer border running along the coin's periphery. The composition is non-figurative in keeping with Islamic artistic convention, relying entirely on calligraphy and decorative vegetal motifs.
