Niger's Abu Simbel issue belongs to a loose series of African-minted gold miniatures nominally tied to UNESCO World Heritage Sites — a format popularized by several Francophone West African states whose monetary authorities license designs to European distributors, primarily for the collector market. The temples themselves are in Egypt, roughly 4,000 kilometers from Niamey, making Niger's jurisdictional claim purely commercial.
