Informazioni aggiuntive	This is a coin of Afars and Issas, the French administered territory occupying the Horn of Africa during its final years before independence as Djibouti in 1977. Paris continued striking coinage for the territory throughout this transitional period, as independence movements were already gathering force and a 1967 referendum — widely criticized for irregularities — had narrowly returned a vote to remain French. The copper-nickel alloy was a deliberate cost reduction from earlier silver issues in the series.
