Obverse description Laureate head of Marianne, allegorical personification of the French Republic, facing right, her hair adorned with a wreath of olive branches rendered in high relief. The bust is truncated at the neck and depicted in a classical Art Deco style characteristic of engraver Pierre Turin. The circular legend REPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE arcs around the periphery, divided left and right of the effigy, with the engraver's signature P. TURIN inscribed in small capitals along the lower rim. A denticulated border frames the entire design.
