The signature parade on this note tracks an unusually compressed period of administrative turnover at the Banque Nationale — seven distinct signature combinations across roughly two decades, with van Hoegaerden appearing in three of them, once as Gouverneur and once as Directeur, reflecting an internal reshuffling rather than a straightforward succession. That alone makes date-specific attribution worth the effort for serious collectors.
Albert Doms and Adolphe Ligny were both staff engravers at the Brussels printing works, and this was entirely an in-house production from design through strike — unusual for a Belgian issue of this period, when foreign contractors like Bradbury Wilkinson were common.
