| 表面の説明 | The state coat of arms of the Hungarian People's Republic occupies the central field, depicting a Soviet-style shield surmounted by a five-pointed star, flanked by wheat sheaves bound at the base with a ribbon, all rendered in fine relief. The circular legend MAGYAR NÉPKÖZTÁRSASÁG runs along the upper periphery, with dots punctuating the lower border. Below the arms, the denomination 100 FORINT is inscribed in bold characters, with the date 1974 appearing in the lower field. The mint mark BP. and the engraver's initials CSV appear beneath the coat of arms. |

Issued to mark the 25th anniversary of the Council for Mutual Economic Assistance — the Soviet-led trade bloc known in Hungarian as KGST — this coin appeared at a moment when Hungary was quietly pursuing the most liberal economic experiment within the Eastern Bloc. Budapest's "New Economic Mechanism," introduced in 1968, had already decentralized some pricing and allowed limited market forces, making Hungary an awkward but tolerated outlier inside the very organization this coin celebrates.
