Obverse description At center, the state emblem of the Hungarian People's Republic — a red star surmounting a stylized shield flanked by wheat sheaves and tied with a ribbon — occupies the upper field. Below the emblem, the denomination '100 FORINT' is boldly rendered in large numerals and lettering across the center of the field. The mint mark 'BP.' and the date '1972' appear in the lower field, with the engraver's initials 'AT' beneath. The circular legend 'MAGYAR NÉPKÖZTÁRSASÁG' (Hungarian People's Republic) runs along the periphery, interrupted by two small lozenge stops at left and right.
