The 1993 Hungarian 100 Forint belongs to a transitional series issued as the country moved away from communist-era iconography in its currency design — a process that began after 1989 and proceeded gradually, with different denominations updated at different times. The 100 Forint was among the lower values still in active daily circulation at the time, and inflationary pressure through the early 1990s was steadily eroding its purchasing power.

Printed by the Hungarian Banknote Printing Company (Pénzjegynyomda) in Budapest, which has produced Hungarian currency domestically since 1926.
