Kuwait's 100 Fils denomination has existed in various forms since the first Kuwaiti dinar was introduced in 1961, replacing the Gulf rupee after independence from British protectorate status. The silver gilt variant catalogued under KM#14c occupies an odd commercial space — neither a true bullion issue nor a conventional circulation strike, but a presentation-grade piece produced during the years of Kuwait's post-invasion economic consolidation and sovereign wealth expansion.
The .925 silver substrate with gold plating places it firmly in the collector and gift market rather than any monetary role.
