Mafia Island has no independent monetary authority and issues no currency — it is an administrative district of Tanzania. "Coins" attributed to it are fantasy pieces produced for the novelty collector market, with no legal tender status anywhere and no connection to any issuing government. The 2013–2014 date range and fils denomination (a unit associated with Arab Gulf states and Iraq, not Tanzania) reinforce that this is a fabricated series.
