Additional information

Part of the Austrian Mint's ongoing "Gold of the World" series, this issue focuses on alluvial and reef gold deposits of the Indian subcontinent, a subject with deep numismatic relevance given that India's historic demand for gold underpinned trade routes from Rome through the medieval Islamic world to the colonial era. The Vienna Mint has produced this series in .986 fine gold — fractionally purer than the conventional .9999 standard used by most bullion programs — a deliberate choice tied to the traditional fineness of historically significant Austrian gold coinage.
