Aanvullende informatie

Rudolf Maister was a Slovenian military commander who, in November 1918, seized control of Maribor and the surrounding Styrian region through rapid unilateral military action — securing what became the northern border of the newly formed Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes before Allied peace negotiators could award the territory to Austria. Without that move, Maribor would almost certainly have ended up on the Austrian side of the settlement. He is commemorated in Slovenia with a national holiday on November 23rd, the date of his 1918 operation.
