Croatian lace-making — particularly the needle lace of Lepoglava and the lacis of Hvar — was inscribed on UNESCO's Intangible Cultural Heritage list in 2009, one of Croatia's earliest entries. The Croatian National Bank has drawn on this recognition repeatedly as justification for precious metal issues, positioning the craft alongside Glagolitic script and the Sinjska alka in a broader program of numismatic cultural documentation.
