| 正面描述 | Front-facing effigy of Catalan architect Antoni Gaudí, rendered after a photographic portrait by Pablo Audouard. The portrait is framed by an artistic arrangement of hexagonal mosaic motifs characteristic of Gaudí's distinctive trencadís decorative style. The legend ANTONI GAUDÍ appears above or adjacent to the effigy, with the issuer name ESPAÑA and the date 2026 completing the inscriptions in the field. |

This issue marks the centenary of Antoni Gaudí's death in 1926 — struck by a Barcelona tram, he was initially mistaken for a beggar and received delayed medical attention that almost certainly cost him his life. The basilica he devoted his final years to remains unfinished a century later, though completion is now projected for sometime in the 2030s under the direction of architect Jordi Fauli.
Spain's gold commemorative program has used the .999 fineness standard consistently since reforming its precious metal issues in the early 2000s, positioning these pieces firmly toward collector rather than bullion buyers.
