Obverse lettering IHS MISERANDO ATQUE ELIGENDO FRANCISCVS P.M. ANNO VIII MMXX
Reverse description The reverse presents a majestic frontal depiction of Christ Pantocrator inspired by early Christian mosaic iconography, shown with a nimbus cross behind his head, his right hand raised in blessing and his left hand holding an open book inscribed with the Alpha and Omega symbols. Flanking the central figure on both sides are rows of standing apostolic or conciliar figures rendered in a stylized Byzantine manner against a dark field, evoking the spirit of the Second Vatican Council. Below Christ, the Holy Spirit is represented as a descending dove above a symbolic boat. The denomination CENTO EURO is divided across the upper field, with CITTA DEL VATICANO forming the lower legend in large Roman letters. The engravers' names PETRASSI INC. and G. TITOTTO appear in the lower left and right of the field respectively, with the Rome mint mark R visible near the upper left.
