Reverse description Faithful reproduction of the reverse of the original 2 Escudos gold coin of Felipe III, struck at the Madrid Mint in 1615, displaying the characteristic quartered cross of Jerusalem within a quadrilobe (trébol) border, a hallmark design of Spanish Colonial and peninsular gold coinage of the Habsburg period. Small fleur-de-lis ornaments appear at the terminals of the cross arms within the lobes. The circular legend 'HISPANIARVM REX' arcs around the lower periphery, while the date '1615' appears prominently in the upper field, separated by two pellet stops. The entire design is rendered in high-relief proof finish, faithfully replicating the style of early 17th-century hammered Spanish gold coinage.
