Beschrijving voorzijde A large, stylized relief of a broad-canopied oak tree dominates the field, its gnarled trunk rising from the lower centre and its densely textured foliage spreading across the upper portion of the coin. At the base of the trunk, a small fantastical creature from Croatian folklore is depicted in high relief, evoking the mythological world of Ivana Brlić-Mažuranić's literary works. The denomination '100' and the currency unit 'EURO' are inscribed in the right field. The legend 'REPUBLIKA HRVATSKA' arcs along the outer border in raised Latin lettering, divided by the tree's canopy on either side.

Aanvullende informatie

Ivana Brlić-Mažuranić, often called the "Croatian Andersen" for her fairy-tale writing, was the first woman nominated for the Nobel Prize in Literature from Yugoslavia — twice, in 1931 and 1938 — though she never received it. She died in 1938, the same year as her second nomination. This issue marks the 150th anniversary of her birth and is among the first Croatian gold bullion-format commemoratives to center a literary figure rather than a monarch, saint, or historical statesman.
