| Obverse description | The arms of Portugal — the traditional shield bearing five escutcheons in saltire, each charged with five bezants, surrounded by a bordure of seven castles — are displayed prominently in the center of the field, rendered in high relief. Flanking the shield are two ornate foliate supporters in the classical Portuguese heraldic style. The circular legend REPUBLICA PORTUGUESA arcs along the upper periphery, while the denomination 100 ESCUDOS is inscribed along the lower periphery. The notation 'Pd 1 oz' appears in the lower field, confirming the one troy ounce palladium content. The entire design is enclosed within a rope border, giving the coin a refined, medallic appearance. |
