背面描述 A tall-masted Portuguese caravel occupies the central field, evoking Cabral's 1500 landfall near Porto Seguro in the state of Bahia. To the left, a profile head of an indigenous figure serves as the principal vignette. The date 1500 and the cartographic inscription TERRA BRASILIS anchor the historical narrative of the design.

备注

This note commemorates Pedro Álvares Cabral, the Portuguese navigator credited with the European discovery of Brazil in 1500 — a figure politically loaded enough that modern Brazilian historiography has long complicated the "discovery" framing. Portugal issuing a collector piece in 2017 on polymer, themed around Brazil, is a statement about Lusophone cultural ties rather than any monetary function; the Banco de Portugal's collector series has leaned heavily into Age of Discovery subjects since the 1990s.

Franck Medina, a Paris-based designer who has worked across multiple European collector issues, produced the artwork. The polymer substrate here is almost certainly sourced from De La Rue or CCL Secure, though the print contract details are not publicly confirmed.
