Obverse description Central vignette shows an allegorical female figure holding a spear and supporting a crowned coat of arms, with a recumbent lion at her feet; a secondary vignette at lower left portrays a boy carrying goods aboard a vessel in a commercial harbour scene. The note is framed by an intricate guilloche border with denomination numerals at the corners, and bears the issuing text and date in letterpress across the lower portion.

Reverse description The reverse is printed entirely in green and salmon-pink guilloche lathe-work, with a large central medallion enclosing the numeral 100 surrounded by concentric bands of intricate engine-turned ornament and legend text. The border repeats a chain of oval and floral cartouches in two tones, and two large circular cancellation holes are punched through the centre. A column of ruled lines occupies the right margin, and denomination numerals appear at each corner within the guilloche framework.
