Reverse description Equestrian portrait of Holy Roman Emperor Charles V (Carlos I of Spain) depicted in full armor, mounted on a prancing horse facing right, holding a long lance or spear diagonally across the field in the manner of Titian's celebrated 1548 portrait. The emperor wears a plumed helmet and elaborately rendered plate armor. The circular legend reads '·CAES·CAROLVS·V·AVGVSTVS·IMPERATOR·' around the upper and lateral periphery, with the date '1989' flanked by two small dots at the lower exergue. The design is executed in high relief with fine detail in the horse's musculature and the emperor's regalia.
