Obverse description The rampant Dutch lion, depicted in a stylized heraldic manner, occupies the center of the field, brandishing a sword upward in its right forepaw and holding a bundle of arrows in its left. A small mint mark appears below the lion. The surrounding legend reads KONINKRIJK DER NEDERLANDEN along the upper arc, with the date 1995 at the lower left and the denomination 100 ECU along the lower arc. Twelve stars of the European Community are arranged in a partial ring near the inner border, flanking the denomination.
