| Obverse description | Half-length draped and armored effigy of Prince Mihály Apafi facing right, holding a scepter, set within a finely engraved oval border. The central portrait is surrounded by a broad wreath of olive branches bearing leaves and berries, framing the entire field. A continuous Latin legend in two registers — an inner and outer inscription — encircles the portrait, incorporating both the ruler's titles and a personal religious motto. The execution is characteristic of high-quality Transylvanian goldsmith-die-engraving work of the late seventeenth century. |
