| Beschrijving keerzijde | The reverse presents a highly detailed, naturalistic depiction of the massive gnarled trunk and spreading branches of the Hundred Horse Chestnut (Castanea sativa), the ancient tree of Mount Etna, Sicily. The deeply textured bark is rendered in fine relief, conveying the monumental age and scale of the subject. A spiny chestnut burr is depicted at the upper right among stylized leaf forms, with color applied in green to highlight it. Along the lower arc of the inner circle, the legend 'HUNDRED HORSE CHESTNUT' is inscribed in raised Latin lettering set against a color-applied green enamel ribbon, providing a vivid chromatic accent to the otherwise silver proof field. |

Armenia's "Tree of Life" silver series, of which this piece is a part, was issued to highlight native species facing ecological pressure across the South Caucasus. The horse chestnut (Aesculus hippocastanum) has its wild origin range centered precisely in this region — the Balkans and the southern Caucasus — making Armenia's claim to the tree botanically legitimate in a way many nature-themed coin programs cannot make.
KM#295 was struck at the Mint of Lithuania, which has handled a significant portion of Armenian commemorative production since the early 2000s.
