This is the wartime cancellation issue of the 1935-dated 100 Drachmai series, formally demonetized and retired during the Axis occupation. Punch-cancelled examples — typically two or three holes driven through the note — were the Bank of Greece's standard administrative method for voiding returned stock rather than destroying it outright, which means surviving punched examples represent official bank records rather than circulated currency.
The occupation-era monetary collapse that followed makes 1941 a particularly sharp dividing line: within months, the drachma would begin its catastrophic hyperinflationary spiral under German and Italian requisitioning demands.
