Opmerkingen

The Bank of Greece established its own printing works at Holargos in the early 1950s, a deliberate move toward domestic production after decades of relying on foreign security printers — primarily in Britain and France. This 100 Drachmai note falls squarely within that transition period, among the first issues to come entirely from Greek presses.

Greece was still rebuilding after the devastation of occupation and civil war, and the drachma had been redenominated in 1954 at 1,000 old to 1 new — meaning this note represents a currency that was itself only months old when the earliest examples were printed.
