Obverse description The Jamaican coat of arms occupies the central field, depicting a quartered shield charged with five pineapples on a cross, supported on the dexter by a female Taino figure holding a basket of fruit and on the sinister by a male Taino figure bearing a bow and arrow. A crocodile passant surmounts the helm above the shield, which bears the motto ribbon inscribed OUT OF MANY, ONE PEOPLE at its base. The legend JAMAICA arcs along the upper periphery, while the denomination 100 DOLLARS and the date 1998 are inscribed along the lower left and right fields respectively.
