Obverse description The Arms of Belize occupy the central field, depicting a quartered shield bearing a sailing ship at base, crossed tools, and a mahogany tree crest above, supported by two woodcutters — one carrying an axe and the other a paddle — standing to either side. A scroll below the shield bears the national motto SUB UMBRA FLOREO. The entire arms are encircled by an open laurel wreath. The country name BELIZE appears as a legend at the top of the field above the wreath, and the date 1975 is positioned below it. A beaded border runs along the rim, and the fineness inscription 500/1000 FINE GOLD with the Franklin Mint mark (FM) appears in small characters at the lower rim.
