Standard Chartered's Hong Kong dollar issues were always a quiet exercise in commercial stubbornness — the bank continued issuing its own currency long after most private note-issuing rights had been curtailed elsewhere in the world, simply because Hong Kong's three-bank issuing arrangement survived the handover intact. The 1993–2002 series was the last substantial run before the 2003 redesign, printed by De La Rue throughout.
The "Printed: 30.04.1945" field in this catalog record is almost certainly a data entry error — Standard Chartered had no note-issuing activity in Hong Kong in April 1945, when the territory was under Japanese occupation.
