Obverse description The full Jamaican coat of arms occupies the central field, featuring a quartered shield adorned with five pineapples, supported on the left by a female Taino figure holding a basket of fruit and on the right by a male Taino figure holding a spear, both in traditional dress. A crocodile crest surmounts a royal helmet above the shield, and a scroll beneath bears the national motto OUT OF MANY, ONE PEOPLE. The legend JAMAICA arcs along the upper rim, the date 1987 appears in the lower field, and the Valcambi mint mark CHI is incused in the lower central field below the shield.
