正面描述 The national coat of arms of the Republic of Namibia occupies the central field, featuring a quartered shield supported on either side by standing oryx antelopes. A fish eagle with outstretched wings surmounts the shield as crest. A scroll at the base bears the national motto in three sections: UNITY, LIBERTY, and JUSTICE. The legend REPUBLIC OF NAMIBIA curves along the left and right periphery within a beaded border, with the date 1996 appearing in the lower field beneath the shield.

背面描述 A male sprinter in full stride is depicted in the central field, rendered in relief with dynamic forward motion, accompanied by a running cheetah at his side — symbolising speed and Namibia's natural heritage in the context of the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games. The cheetah is colourfully highlighted with spotted markings. The curved legend OLYMPIC GAMES 1996 arcs across the upper field within a beaded border, while the denomination $100 appears in the lower field in bold raised lettering.

附加信息

Namibia gained independence in 1990, making the 1996 Atlanta Games only the country's second Olympic appearance as a sovereign nation. The Atlanta Games also marked the centenary of the modern Olympics, prompting a wave of commemorative issues from countries with little prior Olympic minting history — Namibia among them. KM#17 is one of the earliest gold issues struck under the Bank of Namibia's authority.
