Obverse description The national coat of arms of Belize is depicted centrally within an open wreath of laurel branches, flanked by two supporters — woodcutters holding tools — standing on either side of the shield, which bears crossed tools and a sailing ship above a scrolled ribbon inscribed with the national motto. The legend 'BELIZE' arcs across the upper field, with 'ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS' arranged along the lower periphery. The fineness inscription '500/1000 FINE GOLD' appears in the lower field below the coat of arms. A beaded border encircles the entire design.

Reverse description A finely rendered full-body portrait of a Margay (Leopardus wiedii) occupies the central field, depicted standing in profile facing right with its head turned to confront the viewer, its spotted coat rendered in detailed relief. The animal's long tail curves downward behind its hind quarters. The date '1983' is inscribed in large numerals along the lower field. A beaded border encircles the design, consistent with the obverse treatment.
