The year 2000 issue marked a deliberate modernization of the Barbadian $100, with De La Rue introducing holographic foil at a denomination level where counterfeiting pressure is consistently highest. The dolphin series nickname derives from the distinctive grey-on-white intaglio treatment of the marine imagery rather than any formal series designation — collectors adopted it to distinguish this issue from earlier $100 notes in the sequence.
Pick 65 is sometimes confused with the near-contemporary P#60 issues; the large dotted numeral on the face is the quickest differentiator.
