Obverse description The national coat of arms of Belize occupies the central field, depicting a shield quartered with crossed tools and a sailing ship, flanked by two human supporters — a mestizo and a Creole figure — each holding a tool, and surmounted by a mahogany tree. A scroll beneath the shield bears the motto SUB UMBRA FLOREO. The arms are framed within an open laurel wreath. The legend BELIZE arcs along the upper periphery, while the denomination 100 DOLLARS is inscribed in two lines along the lower periphery. A beaded border encircles the entire design.

The commemorative legend 10th ANNIVERSARY OF INDEPENDENCE arcs along the upper portion of the design, with the date range 1981 - 1991 inscribed below the central motif. A beaded border frames the entire reverse field.
